Reduce Pain and Find Balance with Acupuncture

If you’re struggling with acute or chronic pain and haven’t found relief through western medical treatments, or you’re looking to take a more natural approach to wellness, acupuncture and other integrative therapies might be a great option for you. Unlike conventional approaches that often focus on invasive procedures or medications, functional medicine aims to identify and address the root causes of your discomfort.

At Wildflower Acupuncture, we specialize in providing gentle and effective acupuncture treatments designed to address a variety of health and wellness concerns including chronic and acute pain, infertility, anxiety and depression, long covid, and more. Acupuncture stimulates natural biochemical responses in the body, which reduces pain and inflammation, enhances mobility, increases circulation, modulates the immune response, boosts vitality, quiets the mind, and induces deep relaxation.

Our licensed and board certified acupuncturist, Laura Mann, is committed to understanding each patient’s unique health profile. Laura provides personalized, patient-centered care, designing a tailored treatment plan that may include a combination of holistic and integrative therapies to comprehensively address the root cause of your condition and improve your overall well-being.

FAQs

01

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a gentle, drug-free therapy for pain relief and whole body healing, rooted in traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture involves the precise placement of thin, sterile needles at specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points. These hundreds of points, all with distinct actions, are located along channels, often referred to as meridians, which are the pathways through which the body’s vital energy or qi flows. By stimulating specific points along these channels, acupuncture aims to restore the free flow of qi and blood through the meridians, provide nourishment to the organs, tissues, and muscles, and revitalize the body, mind, and spirit.

03

Is Acupuncture Painful? What are the Risks/Side Effects?

Acupuncture is a very gentle therapy and with a skilled acupuncturist, should not be painful. At Wildflower Acupuncture, we use ultra-thin, Japanese-style needles that are designed for optimal quality, smoothness, and comfort. Unlike the hollow needles used for injections or flu shots, acupuncture needles are much thinner, flexible, and solid stainless steel. Most patients don't feel anything during needle insertion, and rarely on occasion, some might experience a slight pinch. The sensation of acupuncture is often different from what one might expect; some describe it as a mild pressure or a dull ache more similar to the feeling during a pressure point massage. Once the needles are in place, most of our patients melt into a state of deep state of relaxation, often drifting off into twilight type sleep. Even those who initially feel nervous about needles, quickly settle in. The tranquil space, soothing music, and aromatherapy also contribute to creating a calming atmosphere that helps ease both body and mind.

02

How Does Acupuncture Work?

From a western medical perspective, research has shown that acupuncture can help stimulate the release of pain relieving neurotransmitters, reduce inflammation, balance the immune response, engage the parasympathetic nervous system, stimulate nerve regeneration, release musculoskeletal trigger points, balance hormones, accelerate tissue and bone healing, and promote deep relaxation. At Wildflower Acupuncture, we integrate our Chinese medical approach with insights from your Western medical doctors, including lab results, X-rays, and diagnoses, to create a truly holistic and informed treatment plan.
